Seven-time Kazakhstani champions Astana have confirmed the transfer of Nigerian striker Geoffrey Chinedu on a free transfer, Soccernet.ng reports.
Chinedu has steadily been on the move since he started his sojourn in Europe. He joined Albanian side Skenderbeu in 2016, and he has constantly been on the move since then.
The 26-year-old has played at other clubs like KS Besa, Teplice, Rabotnicki, AFC Turris, Olympic Donetsk, JK Trans Narva, FC Lahti, Radnicki 1923, and LN Tieren, where he played last season.
However, Chinedu became a free agent after the end of the season, and he became a free agent afterwards. But his status has now changed.
This is as former Kazakhstani champions Astana have confirmed the permanent signing of Chinedu in a free transfer. The 26-year-old joins the club in deal that will last for two and half years.
Chinedu was unveiled on July 4, and he was welcomed by his new teammates at the team’s training pitch and started work immediately.
The Kazakhstani season is already in full swing, with twelve games already played. He will likely make his Astana debut on July 7, in their League Cup game against Kaspij Aktau.
Astana is one of the best clubs in Kazakhstan. They have won the league seven times, and they are the only Kazakhstani club that has played in the UEFA Champions League.
