Super Falcons’ goalkeeper praises Thibaut Courtois for Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League triumph

Super Falcons and Paris F.C. goalkeeper, Chiamaka Cynthia Nnadozie, was filled with praise for Real Madrid goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois after the Belgian put up an impressive performance last night, Soccernet.ng reports.

Goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Junior helped Los Blancos claim their 15th UEFA Champions League title in Wembley against Borussia Dortmund last night.

Despite putting up a not-so-impressive show last night, Carlo Ancelotti’s team secured a comfortable win against Die Schwarzgelben.

Dortmund threatened the Madrid goal in the first half. Nicklas Fullkrug hit the inside of Courtois’ goal while the Belgian twice denied Karim Adeyemi from close range.

Speaking on the post-match analysis with SuperSport, Nnadozie commended the former Chelsea goalkeeper for keeping Madrid in the game.

“For me, I think that should have been a goal. He (Adeyemi) had a lot of chances to put the ball into the net. That’s why the coach of Real Madrid brought in Thibaut Courtois because as a well-experienced goalkeeper, when there’s a 1v1 you don’t give the striker the chance to score, you stay. I think he standing there confused Adeyemi and that was a really good one,” the Division 1 Feminine goalkeeper of the year said.

Andriy Lunin was in goal for most of the season for Real Madrid due to a cruciate ligament rupture Thibaut Courtois suffered at the start of the football year. A flu infection kept the Ukranian out of the Champions League final.

Courtois will not be a part of the Belgian team in this summer’s EURO 2024 tournament. Koen Casteels, Thomas Kaminski and Mats Sels were selected by Domenico Tedesco as the goalkeepers to represent the Red Devils in Germany.
