The English Premier League has announced its fixture list for the upcoming season, which will see Nigerian Super Eagles players in action with their respective clubs, Soccernet.ng reports.
Nigerian players like Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina, Taiwo Awoniyi, Frank Onyeka, and Calvin Bassey are set to showcase their talents in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Nigerian football fans eagerly anticipate the first games of the 2024-25 season as these players compete for the league trophy.
The opening weekend kicks off on Friday, August 16, with Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United hosting Fulham at Old Trafford, featuring Iwobi and Bassey. Both players will aim to secure the first three points for their team.
At Everton, Alex Iwobi has a history of notable performances against Manchester United, including a stunning strike at Old Trafford and a 97th-minute winner for Fulham. Alongside Bassey, he will be targeting a victory to start the season strong.
On Saturday, August 17, Awoniyi and Aina, along with Nottingham Forest, will welcome AFC Bournemouth to the City Ground, hoping for a positive start to avoid relegation concerns.
On Sunday, August 18, Frank Onyeka will look to make an impact for Brentford as they host Crystal Palace at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi, whose contracts with Leicester City expire on June 30, have been linked with free transfers. If they remain at the club, they will face Tottenham at King Power Stadium on Monday, August 19, aiming for a victorious return from the EFL Championship.
