Aina, Okocha, Mikel and others: Iwobi and Bassey craft ideal EPL player with a blend of Nigerian stars

Super Eagles-Fulham duo, Alex Chuka Iwobi and Calvin Bassey, built their perfect English Premier League player with a blend of Nigerian stars, Soccernet.ng reports.

Both players enjoyed a decent start to life with Marco Silva’s men in the Premier League, helping Fulham to a 13th-place finish.

Speaking on the Premier League uncut show with the host, Makai Fray, the pair picked an attribute of a Nigerian player who had played in England, to build up their ideal player.

Pace

The Fulham duo opted for Nottingham Forest full-back, Ola Aina. The former Chelsea man recently beat one of the world’s fastest footballers, Kyle Walker, for pace on the football pitch when they met as the Premier League season winded down.

“Ola’s scary quick and he never tries to run. He’s running at 70%,” Calvin Bassey said on the Premier League show.

Shooting

The Super Eagles duo opted for Odion Ighalo. The AFCON 2019 Golden Boot winner scored 17 goals in 67 Premier Leagues, featuring for Watford and Manchester United.

“Ighalo had a good time at Watford. Ighalo was a good finisher,” Alex Iwobi mentioned.

Passing

Former Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, was the choice Iwobi and Bassey agreed on. The former Super Eagles captain had a stellar career in England, winning two Premier League titles and four FA Cups across 249 English Premier League games.

Dribbling

Jay-Jay Okocha was popularly known for his flair. During his playing days in Bolton, he regularly appeared on the Sky Sports Skill of the Week. It wasn’t far-fetched that Bassey and Iwobi opted for the former PSG midfielder.

Defending

The Super Eagles duo opted for former Everton defender, Joseph Yobo. The 2013 AFCON winner racked up 228 Premier League appearances, playing for Norwich and the Toffees and scoring eight goals.

Physique

“Oh my Gosh, he’s so fit. If he pins you, you can’t move,” Alex Iwobi concluded.

Isaac Success completed the perfect player for Iwobi and Bassey. The U-17 FIFA World Cup winner played 54 EPL games for Watford.
