English Premier League club Crystal Palace have entered the race to sign Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi when his contract at Leicester City expires at the end of the season, Soccernet.ng reports.
Ndidi arrived at Leicester City from Belgian side KAA Gent seven years ago. Since then, the Nigerian midfielder has impressed significantly. The 27-year-old midfielder has made 270 appearances for the club and has 16 goals and 18 assists to his name.
Before last season, when Leicester City got relegated from the Premier League, Ndidi was heavily linked with a transfer to Manchester United. However, after constant struggles with injuries, the talks reduced.
However, this season, Ndidi has returned to his previous best. He has played a crucial part in Leicester City’s campaign, making 29 appearances in the English Championship. He has also adapted to playing different midfield roles under coach Enzo Maresca.
But with his contract expiring at the end of the season, the Super Eagles star has not reached an extension agreement with the Foxes and would be free to leave King Power at the end of the campaign.
Meanwhile, Ndidi is not short of suitors, as Sevilla, Getafe, West Ham, Everton, Galatasaray, and Fenerbahce are reportedly interested. However, in a recent development, per CaughtOffside, Ndidi is also a target for Crystal Palace. Before deciding on his next move, Ndidi will likely priotize where he can get first-team football.
Ndidi has spent the last seven years in England, and it is likely that he will favour a move to a Premier League club in the summer.
