The Black Stars of Ghana had their first training session in Morocco ahead of the international friendly fixture against the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Soccernet.ng reports.
Ghana and Nigeria will re-ignite their rivalry in an international friendly game on March 22 in Morocco. Both teams head into the fixture after varying levels of success at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
While Nigeria finished second in the competition after losing to Cote d’Ivoire in the final, Ghana were ousted in the group stage.
However, both teams are looking to rebuild with their new managers. Otto Addo has taken over at Ghana after signing a three-year deal, while Enyimba Coach Finidi George has taken over as Nigeria’s interim coach, pending when the Nigeria Football Federation unveils their man for the job.
The Super Eagles and the Black Stars are camped in Morocco ahead of the fixture, and both teams have started work in earnest. The Super Eagles shared videos of their first training session on Tuesday, and the Black Stars have followed suit.
Sixteen players took part in the training session, including Tariq Lamptey, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, Kasim Nuhu, Antoine Semenyo, Abdul Samed Salis, Patrick Kpozo, Alidu Seidu, Joseph Wollacott, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Denis Odoi, Ernest Nuamah, Osman Ibrahim, Abdulai Nurudeen, and Fredrick Asare.
Seven more players have joined the camp since yesterday. But by Wednesday, three more players are supposed to land in Morocco ahead of the fixture on Friday.
