“Chukwu is settling in” – Stefano Pioli backs Super Eagles winger after debut Serie A goal

A.C. Milan head coach, Stefano Pioli, has pleaded with fans of the club to give Samuel Chukwueze more time to settle in despite his debut goal against Hellas Verona last night, Soccernet.ng reports.
Chukwueze, 24, joined the Rossoneri from Villareal in a deal that could end up costing twenty-eight million euros but has so far struggled to live up to the potential he showed in the jersey of the yellow submarines.
Prior to last night, the Nigerian right-winger had scored just two goals in a Milan jersey, both of them coming in the UEFA Champions League games against Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund.
In the Italian Serie A, Chukwueze’s performance was constantly berated by fans as he struggled to impress, but a left-footed volley from the edge of the box found the back of the net last night after the winger was brought off the bench against Hellas Verona.
He had gone on for a total of seventeen games without scoring a goal and was relieved to get on the scoresheet for the first time in the league.
His coach, Pioli, believes he still needs time to adapt to the physicality of the league, hinting the reason Pulisic starts more games is the advantage of coming from the English Premier League.
“Not all foreigners arrive at the same pace, not all have the same time to get into a new way of working. Those who come from the Premier League adapt quickly, those who come from elsewhere need more time. Chukwu is settling in, he had some physical problems; he is very willing, and he has the talent and quality to do well with us,” the 58-year-old Italian manager said in quotes revealed by Di Marzio.
A.C. Milan are currently second on the Serie A table, three points above Juventus, but a whooping fourteen points against city rivals, Inter Milan.
N.B: what do you think of what Pioli said about Samuel Chukwueze? Do you think he needs more time?
