AFCON 2023: Alex Iwobi sends hilarious message ahead of Super Eagles’ push for fourth AFCON crown

The Super Eagles begin their quest for a fourth crown later this month, and Iwobi is preparing himself by eating fufu

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has shared a video of himself preparing to eat fufu ahead of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Ivory Coast later this month, Soccernet.ng reports.

Iwobi was named in Nigeria’s 25-man squad for the 2023 AFCON, and he is set to resume camp on January 2. The former Everton man left his club on a high after a brilliant performance that ensured that they earned a 2-1 win over Arsenal on December 31.

A6head of his return to national team duties, Iwobi posted a video of himself on instagram, preparing to eat a plate of fufu and egusi soup, with the caption – “AFCON I dey come”.

Fufu has gained popularity in recent months following Karim Adeyemi’s joke that the Nigerian delicacy gives him speed.

Iwobi has never been shy to tap into his Nigerian origin, as he has made some old posts about fufu.

The 27-year-old midfielder will be tasked with being the creative outlet in the Super Eagles team as no other Nigeria star has proven to have enough quality to bench him.

Iwobi will look to be at his best to help the Super Eagles win a fourth AFCON crown.

  • This the best time for Iwobi and Nigeria to show Africa that the are the best soccer nation in Africa and not with mouth but by action so that Ghana and Cameroun and South Africa can give them that respect the want and no mistake.
