The Nigerian forward came off the bench to wrap up the scoring for the Belgian giants in their weekend triumph away from home
Tolu Arokodare has expressed his delight at his sensational goal that sealed KRC Genk’s impressive 3-1 win over AS Eupen in the Belgian First Division A on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Arokodare started the encounter on the bench and watched from the sidelines as compatriot Yira Sor gave Genk the lead in first-half stoppage time following a trademark run and side-footed finish.
Genk’s Joseph Paintsil and Eupen’s Regan Charles-Cook traded goals early in the second half to keep the scoreline at two-one in favour of the visitors before Arokodare replaced Sor in the 81st minute.
The 23-year-old Nigerian forward then scored the third goal for Genk deep in stoppage time with a brilliant individual display of skill and trickery.
After receiving a pass from Bonsu Baah on the edge of the penalty box, Arokodare advanced on his marker and threw him off balance with a smart step-over before striking the ball under goalkeeper Gabriel Słonina.
Arokodare, who has four league goals in 17 games for Genk this term, took to his X account (formerly known as Twitter) to reveal he is particularly pleased with his latest effort.
“Hold something. This one sweet me,” the former Amiens forward wrote.
Last season for Genk, Arokodare made 11 First Division A appearances, scored two goals, and provided one assist after arriving in January from French side Amiens.
