Report: Leicester identifies former Man United schoolboy as potential Ndidi replacement

Wilfred Ndidi’s contract is slated to end in 2024 and he is expected to make an exit as early as January if his party and Leicester City reach no agreement

Leicester City, currently leading the English Football League Championship, is reportedly eyeing Josh Brownhill from Burnley FC as a replacement for Wilfred Ndidi, Soccernet.ng reports.

Ndidi, a key player for the Foxes, has attracted interest from top European clubs like FC Barcelona, Sevilla, and Juventus as his contract with Leicester nears its end.

In preparation for Ndidi’s potential departure, Leicester is reportedly considering a move for a former Manchester United schoolboy player performing impressively under Vincent Kompany’s guidance.

Earlier in the summer transfer window, Ndidi was linked with moves to Galatasaray, Bayern Munich, and Liverpool. However, he chose to honour his contract with Leicester, despite their relegation to the second tier of English football.

Having contributed two goals and four assists in 16 matches for Enzo Marcesa’s team, the former KRC Genk has emerged as a priority target for potential suitors in the upcoming transfer window.

While there has been no official statement regarding Ndidi’s contract renewal or potential exit from the club, speculation suggests that if a new contract isn’t signed before the year ends, Leicester might consider selling him to avoid losing him for free in the summer transfer window.
