Osimhen bags best striker award at AIC Oscar del Calcio

The Super Eagles striker was superb for Napoli last season, and he has been rewarded for his brilliance

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has won the best striker award at the AIC Oscar del Calcio award ceremony that took place on Monday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen has been one of the best strikers in the world in the last two years. The 24-year-old Nigeria striker has proved to be a crucial asset for Napoli.

Last season, Osimhen scored 31 goals in 39 games for the Partenopeans to help them to their first Scudetto in 33 years. He also helped a first-ever quarterfinal finish in the UEFA Champions. The former Lille man also became the first African to win the Capocannoniere.

Osimhen’s brilliance has seen him nominated for many awards, including the FIFA Best and Balon d’Or. His latest coop is the AIC Oscar del Calcio best striker’s award.

Osimhen was also included in the Serie A team of the year alongside Mike Maignan, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Kim Min-jae, Andrea Bastoni, Theo Hernández, Stanislav Lobotka, Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Nicolo Barella, Rafael Leão, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

This season, Osimhen started well, but he has struggled with injuries, and the instability at Napoli has not helped issues either. Nonetheless, he would look to return to his best soon enough.
