The Cottagers pushed the Reds all the way at Anfield on Sunday before falling to a nail-biting away defeat
Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has opined that Fulham needs to start winning games following their tough 4-3 defeat at Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, Soccernet.ng reports.
Iwobi and compatriot Calvin Bassey were again in Fulham’s starting eleven, and both impressed as the Cottagers went into the halftime break levelled on 2-2 with Liverpool.
The visitors even took the lead with ten minutes left, but Liverpool scored two goals in two minutes to turn the tie around and claim all three points.
A lot of credit has been showered on Fulham’s excellent display as they become the first team this term to score more than one goal at Anfield.
Still, it was Fulham’s fifth loss in their last eight league games, with Marco Silva’s men not losing by more than two goals in any of those games.
Iwobi admits that Fulham have not been completely outclassed by their opponents this season, but he has urged his teammates to start turning draws and losses into victories.
“Of course, it’s good to have good performances,” said Alex Iwobi as per The Athletic.
“But we need to turn them into results. That’s what pushes you up the table. It’s all good saying you performed well, but we need results. It’s fine margins.”
“The goals were outrageous,” said Iwobi. “We showed character and fighting spirit. It’s just unfortunate we didn’t take something.”
After 14 rounds of matches, Fulham sit 14th in the Premier League, having won only four games and suffered seven defeats.
