Chukwueze scored his first goal for AC Milan, but it was not insufficient
Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze scored his first goal for AC Milan in their 3-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League, Soccernet.ng reports.
Chukwueze started from the right of Milan’s attack at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza shen they played hosts to Dortmund in their penultimate UCL group stage game. Both sides were evenly matched going into the tie, but Milan were without their talisman Rafael Leao. Still, they needed to win the game to ensure that their hopes of qualifying from their group was intact.
The Rossoneri got a dream start, as they won a penalty in the 5th minute. Unfortunately for them, Olivier Giroud failed to capitalise as his spot-kick was saved. Three minutes later, it was the visitors who won a penalty. Dortmund then took advantage, with Marco Reus finishing properly from the spot to make it 2-1 in the 10th minute.
However, 27 minutes later, Chukwueze turned up for AC Milan. The Nigeria forward made a mazy run forward. He was marked by two Borussia Dortmund players, but he peeled off them with some great skill in the box and sent a wicked shot past Gregor Kobel to make it 1-1 in what was his first goal for AC Milan.
The first half ended square, but Borussia Dortmund sealed the deal in the second half, as goals from Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Karim Adeyemi sealed the win for the Germans.
Chukwueze had 77 minutes of action. And he registered 51 touches, four shots, four successful dribbles and two tackles. Following their loss, the only way that AC Milan can qualify for the next round is by defeating Newcastle in their final group game, and hope that PSG lose to Dortmund
