Alex Iwobi left Everton during the summer transfer window to sign a five-year contract with Fulham for an estimated €25 million
Super Eagles star, Alex Iwobi, is determined to reciprocate the trust and confidence placed in him by Fulham Manager, Marco Silva, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Portuguese manager successfully brought Iwobi from Arsenal to Everton FC in 2019 and then convinced him to make the move to Fulham as his contract with the Toffees was set to expire.
Iwobi, quoted by Standard, acknowledges Silva’s significant role in his transfers to both Everton and Fulham. He expressed his desire to repay his well-respected coach with outstanding performances.
“He’s the one that actually got me to Everton. I did speak with him, and he has a lot of faith in me. For a player to have that trust and confidence from the manager allows you to go and express yourself and play with freedom. I just need to repay the faith,” he stated.
Since joining Fulham, Iwobi has made six appearances in the domestic league and one in the EFL, contributing an assist.
Iwobi also shared that he is relishing his return to London and aims to help Fulham climb the English Premier League table.
“I have to give credit to Fulham. They were very welcoming with me, and I’m enjoying my time here. We just need to climb up the table and get results like we did today.”
Silva’s Fulham team is set to face Ipswich Town at Portman Road, and Iwobi is eager to contribute to a successful outcome.
