Peseiro confident in replacements as Osimhen and Iheanacho miss Mozambique friendly

In their fifth senior match together, the Super Eagles take on Mozambique without Kelechi Iheanacho and Victor Osimhen

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has expressed his confidence in the replacements for Victor Osimhen and Kelechi Iheanacho as Nigeria prepares for Monday’s friendly against the Mambas of Mozambique, Soccernet.ng reports.

Both Napoli’s Osimhen and Leicester’s Iheanacho have been ruled out of the friendly, which is scheduled to take place at the Estadio Municipal de Albufeira.

Osimhen will be traveling back to Napoli on Monday for an MRI scan due to the knock he sustained during the match against Saudi Arabia, while Iheanacho left the camp for personal reasons.

The absence of these two key players is seen as a significant setback for the Super Eagles, given their quality and impact on the team. However, Portuguese manager Peseiro has assured that the team has enough quality to cope with their absence.

“We will miss Kelechi and Victor, but we have other good players who can make Nigeria proud. I look at the bench and see players who can step up and take their chances,” he said, as quoted by theNFF.com.

Monday’s match in Portugal will be the fifth senior-level meeting between Nigeria and Mozambique, and the Super Eagles are determined to put on a strong performance and secure a positive result against the Mambas, even without Osimhen and Iheanacho.
