How Kelechi Iheancho inspired my first goal for Leicester– Fatawu

Issahaku Fatawu joined Leicester City from Sporting CP on a season-long loan during the summer transfer window

Ghanaian forward, Issahaku Fatawu, has attributed his debut goal for Leicester to the influence of Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, Soccernet.ng reports.

As the EFL Championship resumed, Leicester secured an impressive 3-1 victory over Swansea City.

Fatawu, on loan from Sporting CP, scored his first goal for Leicester, giving credit to Iheanacho for inspiring him.

The game saw Matt Grimes open the scoring for Swansea in the first half, but Jannik Vestergaard equalized thanks to a chance from the left wing that rebounded to him and found the net.

In the second half, Fatawu opened his goal account, capitalizing on Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s pass to put Leicester in the lead.

After the game, Fatawu spoke about the influence of Iheanacho, who had encouraged him to score goals.

“I can’t even explain how I am feeling right now. But, Kele[chi] always tells me to score, so I scored.” he mentioned.

Following Fatawu’s goal, Nigerian international Iheanacho extended the visitor’s lead with a goal made possible by a pass from Wilfred Ndidi. Iheanacho penetrated Swansea’s defense and scored past Carl Rushworth.

Leicester’s victory puts them in a strong position for a comeback to the English Premier League, leading the table with a five-point advantage over Ipswich, who have a game in hand.
