Most of the top sides have shown promise in the first three weeks of the season and it promises to be an interesting race for the title
Napoli legend Marek Hamsik believes the race for the Scudetto will be tighter than last season, but he thinks Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia could be key in Napoli’s push, Soccernet reports.
Napoli breezed to the Serie A title last season after a 33-year hiatus. The club was unplayable last season, winning 28 of their 38 games last season.
Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia were key in that run, registering a combined 38 goals and 14 assists in the Serie A. Osimhen also won the Capocannoniere for the highest goalscorer, while Kvaratskhelia was the best player in the Serie A
This season however, the race for the Serie A title promises to be tougher as the other top sides seem to have picked up the momentum.
Inter Milan have been superb, winning all three of their games so far and keeping clean sheets in all.
AC Milan have also had a great start following a successful summer that saw them recruit some top attacking talents like Samuel Chukwueze, Christian Pulisic, and Noah Okafor. Juventus have also shown glimpses of what they can if they hit their full stride.
Former Napoli midfielder Hamsik, who spent 12 years at the club believes that it won’t be as easy as it was for Napoli last season, but the presence of Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia at the club could make the difference.
“The winner of the title can’t be decided in the third week of the championship, we risk making a fool of ourselves, as Spalletti’s Napoli taught us,” Hamsik said per Napolo Magazine.
“But Inter started very well, they are coming from the Champions League final, so they have consistency and will try to take the title away from Napoli.
“I don’t forget Milan and Juventus, the values of the teams are known. However, Garcia has men of depth, a project that has been going on for a decade now, Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia”
Napoli won their first two games of the season, but they lost to Lazio last time out. They would look to return to winning ways after the international break.
