OFFICIAL: Super Falcons invitee leaves Watford for MK Dons

MK Dons Women have announced the signing of Nigerian forward Adekite Fatuga-Dada, securing her signature for the upcoming 2023/24 season, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 27-year-old Super Falcons star arrives from Championship side Watford FC Women.

Fatuga-Dada, a versatile forward with a distinguished career, brings a wealth of experience to Charlie Bill’s squad.

In addition to representing England at the Under-19s level, she was part of Nigeria’s Super Falcons squad for the 2021 African Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

Head coach Charlie Bill expressed his excitement about the latest signing, stating,

“Ade is another fantastic signing, which signifies the final piece being added to our squad for the 2023/24 season.

“As soon as we caught wind that Ade was moving on from Watford, we were immediately attracted to the idea of providing an environment for her to continue to flourish, and I can’t wait to work with her this season.”

Bill further praised Fatuga-Dada’s talent, saying,

“Ade is a player that we know well, having spent numerous seasons attempting the huge task of stopping her while featuring for Watford, which proved to be a near-impossible challenge.

“In her career, she has had many memorable moments at Stadium MK, and we can’t wait for the players and supporters to enjoy these together.

“Being able to attract a player of Ade’s calibre from a professional club just re-enforces the direction that MK Dons Women are constantly working towards.”

Who is Fatuga-Dada?

Fatuga-Dada’s football journey began at the Hornets Centre of Excellence when she was just 12 years old.

She then made a significant impact at Arsenal Women Under-17s, playing a pivotal role in their FA Youth Cup winning campaign.

Returning to Watford, she not only became an influential member of the squad on the pitch but was also named PFA Community Champion in the 2019/20 season. During her time at Watford, she made 113 appearances across eight seasons.

On the international stage, Fatuga-Dada initially represented England at youth levels but committed her future to Nigeria, the birthplace of her parents, in 2021.

Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum called her up for the Aisha Buhari Invitational tournament in Abuja and the WAFCON qualifiers against Ivory Coast.

Although she has yet to make her Super Falcons debut and was not part of the Nigerian squad for the 2023 FIFA World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, her arrival at MK Dons Women marks an exciting chapter in her career.
