Michelle Alozie featured in all Nigeria matches at the just concluded Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, where the country’s run ended in a heartbreaking penalty shootout defeat to England
Super Falcons star Michelle Alozie scored a wonderful goal to help Houston Dash claim a 1-1 draw in their home National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) fixture against Kansas City Current on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 26-year-old played a key role in the Super Falcons’ impressive run to the Round of 16 of the 2023 Women’s Cup, where the team lost to England on penalties.
Alozie made a headline at the tournament after she was involved in a stomping incident with Chelsea forward Lauren James in the last-16 tie, which subsequently brought a two-match ban on the English player.
Then, around the same time, a video of her revealing her crush on the Super Eagles squad as Everton forward, Alex Iwobi, went viral.
She has since returned to make two appearances for Houston. The first was a 1-1 draw against Washington Spirit in an away NWSL fixture where she played for over an hour before her wonder striker against Kansas rescued a point for her team on Saturday.
American midfielder Lo’eau LaBonta gave KC Current the lead in the 53rd minute, but Alozie drew Houston Dash level in the 67th minute.
The 26-year-old beat a Kansas City Current player to the ball, dashed toward the goal, and unleashed a sublime volley with her right foot into the far left to beat keeper Andrianna Franch.

Houston Dash are in ninth position with 20 points in the 12-team league table after 17 games. The team will face San Diego Wave in their next fixture on September 4.
After her World Cup participation, Alozie will now shift her attention towards helping Nigeria secure a place at next year’s football event of the Olympics.
