I can do better- Boniface reacts to scoring brace for Leverkusen in derby win over Monchengladbach

Die Werkself put up a superb performance against their close rivals, and Boniface was at the centre of it all

Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has stated that he is happy with his performance for Bayer Leverkusen in their 3-0 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach at Borussia Park, Soccernet.ng reports.

Die Werkself visited neighbours Mönchengladbach at Borussia Park in the first instalment of the Rhine Derby this season.

Given that it was a derby, the game was expected to be challenging. However, the neighbours were easily defeated by Xabi Alonso’s men.

Nigeria striker Boniface was instrumental to the victory, as he scored twice. The former Royale Union SG man opened the scoring for Bayer Leverkusen in the first half. Then he scored the third in the 53rd minute after Jonathan Tah scored the second before half time.

It was Boniface’s second-straight impressive game in the German Bundesliga, and he is quite happy with how the game went.

“I’m happy about the two goals, but I can play better,” the striker said.

“I had more chances to score, and I think there is still room for improvement.”

Up next for Bayer Leverkusen is a home fixture against Darmstadt, and Boniface would be looking to carry his impressive form into the game and help them win.
