Nigerian music star Ayra Starr reveals the ‘annoying’ reason that made her support Man United

Nigerian musical prodigy Ayra Starr has unveiled the surprising backstory behind her allegiance to Manchester United, Soccernet.ng reports. 

Ayra Starr, a rising star in Nigeria’s vibrant music scene, found an unexpected connection with the Premier League, forming a bond that transcended her artistic endeavours.

Acknowledged as the most successful English club, Manchester United’s legacy is undisputed.

However, it was Ayra Starr’s “annoying” brothers who inadvertently played a pivotal role in shaping her ardent support for the Red Devils.

In an exclusive interview with Inside United, the Afropop sensation disclosed how her siblings had baptised her into football banter, an experience that ultimately cultivated her affinity for Manchester United.

When queried about the origins of her fervent support for the club, Ayra Starr candidly revealed, “I started supporting Manchester United because of my brothers. Their banter around football was as exciting as it often got annoying, but when you stick around long enough, it begins to rub off on you, and the initiation eventually becomes automatic.”

Over the years, Manchester United have been blessed with exceptional players who have left an indelible mark on the sport.

For Ayra Starr, four superstars stand out as her heroes.

Reflecting on her earliest United idol, she gushed, “I’ve had incredible moments watching Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, and Robin van Persie.

“I love Patrice Evra’s personality as well, but much of that was after he had left the club and became very active on Instagram.

“I cherished these players for their unparalleled skillfulness, making it effortless to engage in spirited banter with my brothers when you have such caliber of talent gracing your team.”
