Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala featured for Barcelona as they played out a 1-1 draw at Camp Nou which sealed their spot in the final of this season’s UEFA Champions League.
Soccernet.ng reports that Barcelona defeated Chelsea 1-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semifinal clash last week, and they were looking to wrap it up at the Camp Nou.
Nigerian striker Oshoala did not start the first game, but she got her opportunity to lead the line in the second leg. Barcelona were a class apart from Chelsea in the first half. The Spanish queens registered nine shots against Chelsea’s nil.
Oshoala had a very big chance to score in the first 10 minutes. A rebound fell to her feet in the box, but she failed to convert, sending her shot high and wide.
With only 45 minutes to play, Chelsea decided to be more adventurous, but they paid for the spaces they left behind. Hansen who was having a great game scored in the 63rd minute to put Barcelona in front.
However, Chelsea drew level four minutes later. Nigerian star Oshoala saw just 60 minutes of action before she was taken off for Salma Paralluelo. She registered two shots, 13 touches, and one dribble.
The game eventually ended 1-1, and the result ensured that Barcelona qualified for the final of the Champions League with a 2-1 scoreline. They will take on the winner of the game between Arsenal and Wolfsburg.
If Oshoala plays, she will be the first African woman to play in three UCL finals.
