Golden Eaglets receive pep talk from Super Eagles coach Peseiro ahead of AFCON opener v Zambia

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has expressed his unwavering confidence in the Golden Eaglets ahead of their opening fixture at the 2023 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations in Algeria, Soccernet.ng understands

The Portuguese manager has urged the young Nigerian side to go all out and conquer the rest of the continent once again.

In a heartfelt goodwill message sent to the Golden Eaglets, Peseiro stressed the importance of playing with pride and passion.

“Best of luck to the Nigerian U17 team as they kick off their Africa Cup of Nations campaign! Make your country proud and play with all your heart,” he wrote on his Twitter handle.

The two-time champions will begin their quest for a third title against Zambia at the Stade Mohamed Hamlaoui, Constantine, on Sunday.

With the pressure of the competition already mounting, the Golden Eaglets will have to dig deep to overcome a tough group that also includes Morocco and South Africa.

Despite the daunting task ahead, the Nigerian youngsters have shown tremendous promise in their preparation, winning ten of their eleven warm-up matches against local clubs and academies.

The team’s coach, Nduka Ugbade, has also expressed confidence in his players, saying they are well-prepared and ready to take on any challenge.

For the Golden Eaglets, the stakes are high in the U-17 AFCON, as the top four teams in the competition will represent Africa at the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

With this in mind, the Nigerian lads will undoubtedly give their all to secure a place at the global showpiece.
