Nigeria are set to play in the 2023 FIFA World Cup in Australia/New Zealand, and they would want to improve on the team’s record in the tournament.
The team under Randy Waldrum’s tutelage has played a series of friendly games ahead of the competition. And with just three months left till the start of the competition, the NFF have made plans to help the team excel.
In a communique released by the NFF on Monday, there are plans for a top friendly game and proper camping before the World Cup.
“The board stated that it will do even more to prepare the team for the big challenge with another grade A friendly match in Europe and a two-week camping in Australia before the kick-off of the tournament on 20 July,” the statement read.
The Super Falcons defeated New Zealand 3-0 in their last friendly game in April, and that is a good sign for the team ahead of the World Cup.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons have never gone past the quarterfinals of the World Cup. But Waldrum would hope that the solid preparation would eventually pay off before the tournament begins in July.
