Slavia Prague forward Peter Olayinka is at risk of missing several games due to suspension following his gross unsportsmanlike conduct in a recent match.
Olayinka endured a topsy-turvy performance at the weekend as he scored for Slavia only to receive a red card for attacking his marker in their 2-2 draw at Slovan Liberec. Being a straight red card, Olayinka may face some stiff punishment.
The disciplinary committee is set to meet on Thursday to decide on the punishment for his offence.
According to section 48 of the disciplinary code, physical assault on a player can lead to a ban on activity for up to two months.
However, given that Ndefe was not injured, it is likely that the punishment will be between three and five matches, based on this year’s disciplinary practice.
Olayinka’s behavior after the red card, where he was seen pushing opponents, may also affect the punishment decision. His conduct may be deemed the opposite of an orderly exit to the dressing room after expulsion, and the commission is assessing that.
If Olayinka is suspended for three competitive matches, he will miss the league matches with Olomouc and Mladá Boleslav, as well as the cup semi-final with Bohemians.
The Slavists’ derby match against Sparta on April 15th is also extremely important in the fight for the title, and Olayinka’s absence may be detrimental to their chances.
Despite the impending suspension, Olayinka remains a crucial player for the Slavists, having scored ten goals this season.
Olayinka is in his fifth year at Slavia, but in January, he signed a pre-contract with Crvena Zvezda Belgrade.
Coach Jindřich Trpišovský considers him one of the team’s most important players in the spring and has expressed his desire for a new Olayinka when the Super Eagles striker leaves in the summer.
