Cremonese has only been able to gather 12 points so far this season after losing 15 and winning just one game
After a string of defeats, Super Eagles player Cyriel Dessers admits that his Italian club, Cremonese, lacks a little luck.
Following their promotion from Serie A’s second tier to the top division, the Violins have only managed to win once, against AS Roma.
The Super Eagles forward commented on the Tigers’ latest loss to Sassuolo on Monday night that his squad has been doing a terrific job so far, but they need some luck to turn their efforts into points.
The Mapei Stadium saw an exciting evening as the home team, hoping to build on their victory against Lecce, barely prevented Cremonese from mounting a comeback with a late goal to end the game at 3 goals to 2.
The Black and Greens scored their first goals thanks to Davide Frattesi capitalising on Armand Lauriente’s excellent work and a spectacular free-kick rocket by Lauriente.
When the Watermelon Peels thought their two-goal lead was a game over for Davide Ballardini’s side, super-sub Dessers pounced on Martin Erlic’s costly error to pull one back for the visitors in the 62nd minute of the game.
A few minutes before the end of the game, the Nigerian international levelled the scoreline for the visiting side after eluding the Sassuolo goalie.
The celebration for the Tigers was about to begin when Nedim Bajrami capitalised on a golden opportunity presented by a gorgeous cross and blasted past Marco Carnesecchi to grab three points for Alessio Dionisi’s team.
The Nigerise reacted after the game by commending his team’s efforts and saying they are headed in the right direction but still need more luck.
“I also think a bit of luck. We have done a great job, we are on the right path, and we have to continue like this, and the results will come,” he said, as the Club’s official website quoted.
The Super Eagles forward, Dessers, said it was a fantastic experience playing in front of the away fans after scoring twice to equal the game in the 82nd minute.
” The one-two under the fans? It was great. It was beautiful. For the whole match, I only heard our fans. That’s why it hurts not to have won in front of them,” he added.
Cremonese is currently in Serie A’s bottom second, nine points behind Spezia in the danger zone.
