Coach Vanhaezebrouck not thrilled by Gift Orban’s hattrick against İstanbul Başakşehir

Gift Orban has recently attracted media notice as a result of his impressive performance for Gent

KAA Gent manager, Hein Vanhaezebrouck, has evaluated Gift Orban’s performance in their Europa Conference League tie against İstanbul Başakşehir Futbol Kulübü.

The former Anderlecht manager doesn’t appear thrilled by the Nigerian wonderkid’s outstanding performance in their 4-1 victory over the Turkish team.

After scoring a hat-trick in 205 seconds, the Super Eagles-eligible star’s conference league goal total increased to 5 goals in 4 games.

Before the game, the Nigerian steered his team to a 6-2 victory against Zulte Waregem, bagging four goals in their domestic league tie.

In response to his spectacular performance, adding three goals to his weekend total of four at the Baakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium, his coach said he had never witnessed anything like it.

“I’ve never seen it happen in my career, not as a player or as a coach,” the Ghent coach claimed, as cited by Voetbalnieuws,

But the boss is accustomed to the former Bison FC player scoring many goals in each game, seeing it as a part of who he is.

“But okay, we saw Haaland busy yesterday (Tuesday), [Gift] Orban also managed to score three times in five minutes. Lately, a lot has been scored by the same player, apparently (laughs). So it’s not really exceptional anymore nowadays.”

The Nigerian joined Gent in January from Stabaek Fotball, and as of the game in Turkey, he has already scored 12 goals in all nine of his games for Gent.
