Arokodare moved from Amiens SC to KRC Genk in January, where he appeared in 63 matches and scored 21 goals and contributed 4 assists.
The Nigerian attacker, Tolu Arokodare has revealed that he’s ready to give his best to his new club following his switch from Amiens SC.
The Smurfs secured the signature of the attacker for a fee in the region of €5 million following the exit of their key man Paul Onuachu to Southampton.
However, the Smurfs were left without alternatives for the right replacement when the Nigerian attacker made a last-minute move, but they were able to entice Tolu Arokorede, a fellow countryman, in the closing hours of the winter transfer season.
The 22-year-old, according to the club’s head of football, was the ideal stand-in for the Super Eagles attacker.
Speaking on joining the club, Arokodare said through the club’s official website
“I am very happy to be in Genk. At this point in my career, I can’t imagine a better club,” he remarked.
The 22-year-old was on a loan return to Valmiera from Ligue 2 side, Amiens SC. But, while he played for both clubs, he jointly bagged 43 domestic league goals for them.
Onuachu, who appeared in 103 matches and scored a total of 73 goals, left a significant gap that the striker is desperate to fill.
“Together with the team, I hope to continue the good results of the first half of the season and to win prizes. Paul leaves big shoes to fill. But I am determined to give 100% for this great club.” he added.
In Onuachu’s absence, Genk had their second draw of the campaign as they traveled to face on Eupen. Genk will be trying to rebound when they meet Gent on Sunday.
