Super Eagles midfielder, Onyedika risks suspension after Club Brugge’s trip to Antwerp

Club Brugge’s attempt to win all three points during their trip to City of Antwerp ended in a scoreless draw with the third-placed Belgian Pro League team.

Nigerian international, Raphael Onyedika, risks suspension following a brawl between Antwerp players and Club Brugge.

The reigning Belgian Pro League champion went to Bosuilstadion in pursuit of three points, but walked away with only one after the full-time whistle.

A brawl, which included Nigerian player Onyedika, broke out between the home team and the visitors after the game, which finished in a 0-0 tie.

Ontedika and his teammates were subjected to nasty anti-club chants from the home crowd shortly after that, and the Nigerian raised his middle finger three times in their direction.

The situation became more heated as a result, and Ritchie Dae Laet extended the same courtesy to the visiting crowd.

Following the ruckus and the midfielder from Nigeria’s actions, Dae Laet and the other players left the field without the referee taking any action.

While Lothar D’Hondt, the match official, overlooked the occurrence, the two, according to reports, may face disciplinary punishment for violating the League association’s rules.

The fair play rules allegedly weren’t followed during the occurrence, however, depending on the Football Association’s decision, both players might receive a suspension or fine.

Meanwhile, few media sources, however, imply that an alternative to the suspension may be a warning or reprimand.

On the other hand, the association has seven days to take action against Onyedika and the Antwerp defender while they decide what course of action to pursue.
