Solomon Agbalaka: Flying Eagles’ messiah versus Egypt gives verdict following the victory

The Flying Eagles edged past the young Pharaohs of Egypt in their must-win tie at the Cairo International stadium.

Flying Eagles defender, Solomon Chinonso Agbalaka, has delivered his judgement about the game following their victory against the 2023 African Cup of Nations tournament host, Egypt.

The 2015 AFCON champions square off against the Young Pharaohs of Egypt in the Cairo International Stadium on Wednesday. In search of their first victory, Nigeria overcame the North African team 1-0.

The West African team’s lone goalscorer, Agbalaka, believes Ladan Bosso’s side merited the win against the four-time champs.

The Egyptians had a total of 14 shots in the game, only two of which were on goal, compared to the Nigerians’ eight attempts, three of which were on goal, and one of which was converted into a goal.

As a result, the Nigerian, whose exceptional play won him the game’s Man of the Match award, believes the outcome is a well-deserved triumph.

Solomon told reporters, in a quote cited by CAF online, “We deserved to win.”

The young man, who plays for Mountain of Fire and Miracles Football Club (MFM FC), added to his argument by saying that the Nigerian team put a lot of effort into facing one of their toughest opponents in the tournament. He also expressed his happiness at the outcome.

“Worked very hard, so I would like to thank my coach and all my colleagues for their efforts.

“I’m very happy with the result of the match. The match was not easy as we were facing the hosts.” the 19-year-old added.

The Flying Eagles will fly on a top level when they take on the second debutant, Mozambique, for their last group stage tie on Saturday, 25 February 2023.
