Iheanacho has struggled in the Premier League this season, but he has always delivered the good in the FA Cup
Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has revealed that he always plays at the same level in the League and the FA Cup.
Iheanacho was on the bench when Leicester City were struggling against League Two side Walsall on Saturday. However, the tide quickly turned when Iheanacho was introduced into the game.
Within five minutes Iheanacho scored for the Foxes. The former Manchester City man received the ball from outside the box and struck a wicked shot which took a slight deflection and flew into the net.
The goal was Iheanacho’s 17th goal of the competition, the highest return of any player in the competition since 2016.
Nonetheless, Iheanacho insists that even though he loves the FA Cup, he always delivers the same energy as he would in Premier League games.
“There is no difference in the way I approach FA Cup matches,” Iheanacho told Leicester City TV.
“Obviously, I love the competition, but there is no difference in terms of the way I approach games or how I play.
“It doesn’t affect me. Anytime I get my chance, I get in there and do my job.
Leicester City have struggled in the Premier League this season. They sit 14th on the table, a big drop from where they were last season.
Nonetheless, Iheanacho is hoping the win at Walsall will have a galvanizing effect and help them return to their best.
“This result will help us build our confidence returning to the Premier League,” Iheanacho said.
“The league is different, but we have the quality to go forward. We just need to stick together as a team and just have the confidence to take the ball and play,” he added.
