Watch: Super Falcons forward wins Pichichi award for highest scorer in Spain

Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has picked up the Pichichi award for the leading scorer in the Spanish Liga Femeni.

The Nigerian international, who has been impressive so far for the Barcelona Femeni, grabbed the award with other stars in a ceremony in Barcelona yesterday, December 21.

The 28-year-old and Real Madrid’s Geyse Ferreira tied for the league’s top goalscorer in May after each player scored 20 goals during the league’s regular season.

Recall that the Nigerian striker was placed 16th in the final 20 shortlist of the 2022 women’s Ballon d’or award.

Also, the Nigerian forward broke the record of winning African Player of the Year for a record fifth time, adding to her previous wins in 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2019.

Oshoala and Geyse both scored 20 goals, according to statistics, but the Nigerian star also played 19 games and contributed three assists.

On the other hand, Geyse scored in 27 games while only managing one assist the whole season.

However, despite Oshoala missing numerous top-flight games due to injury, the Super Falcons taliswoman succeeded with Barcelona Femeni.

So far this season, the Nigerian has scored four goals in 11 Liga F matches and scored two goals and made an assist in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
