The two Super Eagles forwards were involved in the Saudi Professional League clash on Wednesday with the former AFCON boot winner emerging victorious
Odion Ighalo on Wednesday proved why he kept Anthony Nwakaeme out of the Super Eagles for a long time as his team emerged victorious while he was on the scoresheet.
The feisty game saw both sides lay it all down as the league leaders looked for their pound of flesh against the Saudi King’s Cup champions, Al Faiha.
The cup winners had last week unveiled Nwakaeme in a very flashy manner but the Nigerian didn’t manage to get on the scoresheet on Wednesday.
Ighalo however left it late to add to his two goals this season as he scored Al Hilal’s second goal in the 86th minute.
The former Watford forward had a bit of fortune to thank as he poked home a scramble to double Al Hilal’s advantage. Mali’s Moussa Marega had given the champions the lead in the 65th minute.
Al Faihaa will hope to have their Nigerian forward on the mark soon as he has had a beautiful goalscoring record in his nomadic career. From Romania to Israel and Turkey, Nwakaeme has proven he’s a good goalscorer and a battle may be on our hands soon.
