Nottingham Forest have organised a preseason friendly against Union Berlin in honour of the Super Eagles forward
Taiwo Awoniyi will be part of Nottingham Forest’s preseason squad to Union Berlin with a match scheduled for the 8th of July.
Awoniyi completed a £17.5m club record move to The City Ground last week and is a big fan of Union Berlin having given him the opportunity to shine as a professional.
A statement on the club’s website said;
“With infrastructure works at The City Ground well underway in preparation for the opening home Premier League game on Saturday 13th August, Forest will play Bundesliga team Hertha Berlin at Burton’s Pirelli Stadium on Wednesday 20th July. Three days later, The Reds visit the Stadion An der Alten Försterei to face Union Berlin, the former club of record signing Taiwo Awoniyi, on Saturday 23rd July.”
Awoniyi moved to Union Berlin last season in a €6.5m and went on to become a cult hero at the club, scoring their highest number of goals in the Bundesliga and helping them pick an important Europa League spot for the new season.
