Manchester United, Crystal Palace, Monaco to slug it out for Nigeria-eligible wonderkid

The 18-year-old was terrific for the Rams last season, and has attracted interest from some of the top sides in Europe

Manchester United are set to battle Crystal Palace and Monaco to procure the services of Nigeria-eligible forward Malcolm Ebiowei from Derby County this summer.

Ebiowei made a big impression with his performances last season. The 18-year-old started the season with the Derby County Under-19 side, but after a series of brilliant performances, he was promoted to the first team by the turn of the year.

The former Arsenal man made 16 appearances in the Championship, notching a goal and two assists. However, he could not help his side avoid relegation, as administrative issues culminated in Derby County’s drop to the English League One.

Nonetheless, it seems the Nigeria-eligible forward will not go down with the Rams, as Fabrizio Romano reports that Manchester United, Crystal Palace, and French giants Monaco want to secure Ebiowei’s services. He could come at a good price, as Transfermarkt values him at €1million.

The youngster is versatile, as he can play in all positions in attack. He is also very tricky on the ball and has lots of speed to burn.

Ebiowei plays for the English youth teams, but he is eligible to play for Nigeria because of his parents. He was born in Netherlands and so, he can also play for the Dutch team.
