Watford signed the Nigerian international just a season ago for £3.5m and are about to receive a bumper package on his sale
Emmanuel Dennis moved to Vicarage Road at the beginning of the season and became an instant fans’ favourite and impact player.
In a season that has seen the player contribute half of Watford’s goals and become a standout player in the team, his performance has not been enough to save the Hornets from relegation, one year after they gained promotion.
In 33 league games this season, the Super Eagles forward has scored 10 goals and assisted 6, proportional to 50% of Watford’s 32 Premier League goals.
A relegation clause was signed when the player put pen to paper on his contract and won’t be moving with the team to the Championship. Watford are however reducing their expectations as they have lowered Dennis’ valuation to £20m from an initial £40m.
That amount still looks a yard away from what any team will be willing to cough out but whatever Watford get from moving Dennis on, they’d be sure to have gained in football value and financial returns.
The player is expected to command between £10-15m according to transfer experts and may also be eyeing a move away from the Premier League if there’s no concrete Premier League offer.
Leeds United earlier signified interest but talks are on hold at the moment as they are in a relegation battle with their chances of survival deemed slim.
