Super Eagles Portuguese coach, Jose Peseiro oversaw training for the first time as Super Eagles players gathered in the United States.
Peseiro met the players and officials from Nigeria as they mapped out strategies to help the team improve and bounce back from the disappointment of missing out on the World Cup.
Peseiro, while speaking to NFF TV expressed happiness in the reaction of the players to training and was proud of their motivation and happiness.
“It’s a pleasure to start work today for me. To start to train with the national team. We have started the goal to win the AFCON,” he said.
“The first step is now. These guys are tired because the trip was long. They’ve shown motivation, will and happiness to be here. They’ve shown the desire because they want to win the AFCON. Although it’s still some time away in 2023, we must start today by improving our spirit and our quest. The guys were fantastic in this training,” he said.
Peseiro will lead the Super Eagles for the first time when they face Mexico before taking the team to face Ecuador. The Super Eagles also have an African Cup of Nations qualifying game coming up in two weeks time.
