NFF invites 8 NPFL players, Dessers, Royal Antwerp star for Ecuador & Mexico friendlies

Nigeria Football Federation on Tuesday released a 30-man squad to face Ecuador and Mexico in friendlies to be held in the US

At least eight players from the Nigeria Professional Football League were selected as part of a 30-man squad to face the two World Cup campaigners in the United States.

Top scorers in the local scene, Rivers United’s Ishaq Rafiu, and Enyimba’s Victor Mbaoma got the nod to be a part of the squad.

Others from the NPFL to join the squad are Remo Stars’ Isa Ali, Enyimba goalkeeper, Ojo Olorunleke, Akwa United’s Adewale Adeyinka, Plateau United defender Ibrahim Buhari.

Midfielders Chiamaka Madu and Babatunde Afeez Nosiru from Rivers United and Kwara United respectively also got invited to the team.

In-form Feyenoord forward Cyriel Dessers is in the list and will have a chance to fight for a permanent shirt in the Super Eagles after being snubbed in previous games.

Royal Antwerp’s Alhassan Yusuf has also earned a Super Eagles callup for the first time.

Yeni Malatyaspor’s Azubuike Okechukwu and Red Bull Salzburg’s Samson Tijani are also back in the team.

Nigeria will face Mexico on the 28th of May at the AT&T Arena in Dallas before facing Ecuador in New Jersey at the Red Bull Arena on the 2nd of June.
