Austin Eguavoen took the Super Eagles to the second round of the African Cup of Nations and failed to help the Super Eagles qualify for the World Cup.
Nigeria Football Federation has lined up four foreign coaches including a former Barcelona and a former PSG coach for the Super Eagles.
According to sources close to the NFF, the federation is lining up four choices including Jose Peseiro, whom they’d lined up to take over the Super Eagles after the African Cup of Nations.
Former Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde, former PSG and France coach, Laurent Blanc and former PSV Eindhoven manager, Phillip Cocu are reported to be lined as possible options for the vacant Super Eagles coaching role.
Valverde won the La Liga with Barcelona and Blanc won the French Ligue 1 with PSG.
The final choice of the NFF is yet to be known as they’ve been given an ultimatum by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development to find a foreign coach for the national team.
The favourite at the moment is rumoured to be Peseiro which the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick claimed the federation had struck an agreement with in the past.
The NFF has also lined up new coaches for the U-20, U-17 and U-23 teams with regular names still believed to be favourites.
Ladan Bosso is expected to retain his Flying Eagles job while former Nigerian midfielder, Nduka Ugbade is expected to be named the Golden Eaglets’ coach.
Fatai Amoo may be headed to the Dream Team where he will be in charge of the Nigerian U-23.
Former coach, Eguavoen will retain his job as the technical director for another two years as stipulated on his contract.
Eguavoen was reportedly in attendance when the NFF met the Ministry last week Monday to chart a new course for Nigerian football.
Nigerians had called on the NFF to sack Eguavoen as TD too as he’s not expected to be in greater control of technical duties of the federation after failing to lead Nigeria to the World Cup.

Technical director that is not technical... He shouldn't be a technical director after the nations cup and world cup exit.
In my humble opinion, I think Ernesto Valverde is a good coach was best known for his spell as Barcelona manager, between 2017 and 2020. He won 66.9 per cent of his games in charge at Barcelona, during which he led the team to win two La Liga titles and one Copa del Rey trophy. He lost only 16 of 145 matches. He's the best suitor for super eagle at the moment.
