Soccernet reported earlier in the week that Nigeria will be facing the Ecuadorian national team in June
The Nigerian Football Federation has confirmed the Super Eagles will face Ecuador in a friendly game on the 2nd of June.
The match will be held in New Jersey in the United States.
Recall that Soccernet had earlier reported that Ecuador listed the Nigerian team for a friendly match as part of its preparations for the 2022 World Cup.
The Nigerian team won’t be at in Qatar but has friendly games to prosecute against two World Cup-bound teams in May and June.
A friendly against Mexico has also been set for Texas on the 28th of May.
While the NFF is yet to announce a new head coach for the senior national team, a list of assistants has been released with Salisu Yusuf, Usman Abdallah and Finidi George appointed as the assistants to the yet-to-be-known coach.
Ike Shorunmu is also returning to the team as a goalkeeper trainer for the team.
Nigeria last faced Ecuador in 2004 at the LG Cup with the South Americans winning the third-place match on penalties after a 2-2 draw during regulations time.
Ecuador have qualified for the World Cup for the fourth time in their history.
