Ahmed Musa has said the 2022 World Cup in Qatar may be his last.
Musa’s statement is however hinged on Nigeria’s qualification and said he’s been talking to other players who have not been there to step up and ensure the Super Eagles get the ticket.
Nigeria’s top scorer in the World Cup, Musa has scored fur goals for Nigeria at the mundial. It’s a feat not met by any player in Nigeria’s colours at the World Cup.
The attacker has however been tipped to retire from the Super Eagles after the World Cup as he plans to halt a career that has seen him spent a decade with the national team and emerged the most-capped player in Nigeria’s football history.
“All the players, including myself want to go to the World Cup. For me, it is very important, because it could be my last World Cup,” he said.
“I enjoyed the last two finals that I participated in; Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018.”
“I want to experience it again. Most of the players in the present squad have not been to the World Cup and they desire to be there.
“We all know it won’t be easy. Ghana will come here to do battle, but we are ready for whatever they turn up with. I will not say more than that.”
Musa had earlier intimated about the challenge posed by Ghana as they are a difficult team to face.
