Ighalo wants another World Cup but expects Ghana to be tough

Super Eagles attacker, Odion Ighalo has said that he wants another experience of the World Cup and is looking forward to playing at Qatar 2022.

The Al-Hilal attacker in an interview with NFF TV said he’s been talking to the younger players in the squad about the prospects of the World Cup and what it means.

He said Ghana are a good side and they except a tough game but believes they can get the job done on Tuesday.

“I talk to the younger guys that have not been there before that it’s an opportunity to go to the Qatar 2022 World Cup because you won’t know how it feels now, ” Ighalo said.

“It’s after your football career that you’ll understand what it means to play at the World Cup. I’ve been there before and I know what it means to play at the World Cup and I’m looking forward to go to another one again.

“Home advantage for us but we won’t go to sleep. It will be a difficult and tough game. Ghana will come out and because they have nothing to lose now because we’re playing at home.

“We have to give our best 110% in the game on Tuesday, take our chances, fight from start to finish until final whistle. I know we will be victorious by God’s grace but it won’t be easy. It will be a tough one.”

Ighalo didn’t play a part in the first leg against Ghana in Kumasi but is being tipped to be drafted in the first eleven at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

The former Watford man led the line at the Russia 2018 World Cup as Nigeria missed out on a place in the next round by whiskers, losing to Argentina in the dying minutes.

Ighalo went on to play at the 2019 AFCON and emerged top scorer before retiring from the national team.

He was recalled by former coach Gernot Rohr back into the team and has been involved only once since his return.
