Spectacular Simon helps Nantes seal vital result

The Super Eagles star put up a great performance for the Yellow Canaries as they secured the victory over Reims

Super Eagles forward Moses Simon scored the only goal of the game as Nantes secured a hard-fought victory over Reims in the Ligue 1.

The Yellow Canaries entertained Reims at the Stade de la Beaujoire in a middle table clash. Nantes had the better form going into the clash, winning three of their previous five, while Reims had lost three of their last five.

Nantes bossed the game from the start, and it took just 17 minutes before they took the lead through Super Eagles star Moses Simon.

Simon struck a spectacular free-kick over the wall, beating Predrag Rajkovic to put the Yellow Canaries ahead.

Nantes were the better side for the entire first half, keeping more than 60 per cent of the ball.

Reims came out guns blazing in the second half, but Nantes withstood the pressure.

Moses had 48 touches in the game, with a 73 per cent pass accuracy. He attempted ten crosses but lost the ball 20 times. He was hauled off in the 73rd minute before Jean-Kevin Augustin took his place.

Nantes held off all advances from Reims to secure the 1-0 victory. The victory takes Nantes to ninth, two points behind Europa Conference League spots.
