First Super Eagles star arrives Tangier camp ahead Liberia, Cape Verde WCQ games

The last two group stage games of the World Cup qualifying series kick off in a few days, with the Nigerian national team needing a win from any of their last two matches to proceed to the next phase

The Super Eagles training camp has opened in Tangier, Morocco, ahead of the team’s World Cup Qatar 2022 African qualifying matchdays five and six encounters against Liberia and Cape Verde, respectively.

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi is the first Nigerian player to arrive in camp after flying with the officials from Lagos, Nigeria.

The officials who opened the Tangier camp with Akpeyi are Super Eagles assistant coaches Salisu Yusuf and Joseph Yobo and goalkeeper’s trainer, Alloy Agu.

Head coach Gernot Rohr had invited 23 players with the invited stars and overseas-based members of the technical crew expected to report directly to the city of Tangier on November 8.

The Super Eagles will faceoff with the Lone Stars of Liberia on November 13th at the Grand Stade de Tangier in Morocco.

Three days later, the three-time African champions will pit their wits against the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

Meanwhile, Tunisia’s Youssef Essrayri will be the centre referee in the fixture between Nigeria and Liberia, while Algeria’s Mustapha Ghorbal will handle the clash versus Cape Verde game.
