Premier League: Iwobi extends his record against Wolves but Everton suffer consecutive defeats

The 25-year-old midfielder scored his first goal of the season, but it was not enough to save Everton from a loss at the Molineux

Alex Iwobi continued his brilliant form against Wolves after he scored Everton’s lone goal in the 2-1 loss to Bruno Lage’s men on Monday night.

It was Iwobi’s first Premier League goal of the season and his third goal in Everton’s colours against Wolves. He has now scored against Wolves more than any other side in the Premier League.

Before Monday night, the Nigerian international previous goal in the English top-flight was in January, which also came against Wolves.

However, despite his strike, it was not enough to save the Toffees from a 2-1 loss at the Molineux. Rafael Benitez’s men went into the game with the hope of bouncing back from a 5-2 home loss to Watford last weekend.

But they got off to a bad start as Max Kilman put the home side ahead in the 28th minute. Raul Jimenez then doubled the lead four minutes later as Wolves took a two-goal lead into the break.

The second-half resumed with Everton applying the pressure, and it paid off in the 66th minute as Iwobi slotted home a loose ball.

But despite their efforts to find an equaliser, it was Wolves that took the three points, courtesy of the first-half goals.
