Tottenham target N15 billion-rated Nigeria star as Harry Kane’s replacement

The Londoners were previously linked to a move for Napoli forward Victor Osimhen but are now looking in the direction of another Nigerian attacker

Prolific Nigerian striker Umar Sadiq has emerged as a transfer target for Tottenham following his brilliant performances for Almeria in the Spanish Segunda Division, reports Fichajes.

Sadiq has not been short of suitors from some of the biggest clubs in Europe after a stunning debut campaign in the second-tier of Spain’s league setup.

The 24-year-old was the great revelation of the La Liga Smartbank last term when he scored 20 goals and added seven assists to push Almeria to the brink of promotion.

Sadiq possesses in his armoury all the weapons needed to excel in any of Europe’s top five leagues.

It was pretty surprising that no club took him off the books of Almeria in the summer, despite reported interests from Sevilla, Bayern Munich, and English champions Manchester City.

Sadiq is showing his critics that he is not a one-season wonder as he already amassed six goals and three assists in eight appearances this campaign, with his club boss backing him to outdo last season’s numbers.

Almeria’s N15 billion (€30 million) valuation of the former AS Roma starlet may have put off a few interested admirers, with the Red-and-White reportedly rejecting two bids from Getafe and another from Valencia in the last transfer window.

Tottenham, though, are among the clubs that can cough out Almeria’s asking price and more, with the north Londoners expected to receive a significant fee from the potential sale of star man Harry Kane.

Kane was close to moving to Manchester City in the summer before he decided to stay with Spurs. But the Englishman could still depart in the nearest future.

If the deal makes it out of the pipeline, Sadiq would be the first Nigerian star to play for the Tottenham Hotspurs’ senior team.

Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong did not graduate from the Spurs’ youth team to the senior squad before leaving for Groningen in 2013, while Dele Alli chose to represent England’s Three Lions internationally.

  • Who can reasonably believe we will replace Kane with a player from the Spanish 2nd division. GET REAL !!!!
We may be looking at him but playing at that level he doesn't even merit the opportunity to be Kane's back up.

  • @ Lewri please before you make that conclusion have you watch Umar sodiq's recent matchs, the guy is a born striker, and his all round team play and ability to provide assists as well vastly surpasses that of Harry Kane.
