The praises keep coming for the Nigerian star after scoring nine goals in all competitions for club and country across September and October
Former Napoli defender Fabiano Santacroce has revealed he is impressed with the quality Victor Osimhen has shown in the opening stages of the 2021-22 season.
Osimhen has been excellent for Napoli and the Super Eagles in the past few weeks.
The Nigerian star has scored four league goals to help Il Partenopei maintain a perfect start to the Italian Serie A campaign.
Despite Napoli’s less than impressive outing in the Europa League, Osimhen’s brilliance has shone brighter still, with the 22-year-old finding the back of the net three times in two matches.
The former Lille striker replicated his stunning club form for the Super Eagles on Sunday, when he struck the second goal that powered Gernot Rohr’s men to a 2-0 win over the Central African Republic in Douala, Cameroon.
Osimhen got his first goal in the World Cup qualifying series when Nigeria defeated Cape Verde in Mindelo last month.
Born in Brazil to an Italian father and an Afro-Brazilian mother, Santacroce has seen and battled against different strikers during a 16-year playing career that saw him represent nine Italian clubs.
But the ex-Parma star insists he has not seen a striker who offers as much as Super Eagles boy wonder Victor Osimhen.
“Osimhen has incredible physical abilities,” the 35-year-old told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, as per TuttoNapoli.
“He manages to recover balls and create attacking situations when they just don’t exist. Other attackers wouldn’t be able to create what he does.”
Osimhen is expected back in Italy on Tuesday as the Neapolitans prepare for the weekend’s matchday eight encounter against Torino.
Napoli sit on top of the Italian Serie A table with a maximum of 21 points from seven games.
