New FIFA rankings released as the Super Eagles position remain unchanged

The Coca-Cola FIFA world rankings for September has been released following the two weeks of the international break

Nigeria’s Super Eagles position remain unchanged in the latest FIFA rankings released this month. The three-time African champions stay in 34th position, the same place they occupied in last month’s ranking.

Gernot Rohr’s men also stay in fifth position on the African continent, although they are just one place behind Morocco, who dropped to 33rd in the ranking.

The Super Eagles won their two games in September, beating Liberia and Cape Verde in their 2022 World Cup qualifying group, but it was not enough to move them up in the ranking.

Senegal remain the number one team in Africa and have also moved up to 20th in the world. The Teranga Lions are followed by the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia, now ranked 25th in the world.

Defending African Champions Algeria are third on the continent and 30th in the global ranking. Meanwhile, Belgium remain the number one ranked nation in the world, but world champions France have dropped to fourth, with Brazil retaining their second spot.

The three Lions of England are now number three in the world, while European champions Italy round up the top five.

  • why wuld nigeria remain in 34th position.. de won the two world cup qualifying matches.. isnt dat enough to move them to 30th position.. nawa for fifa ranking o... shikina

    • Bro Okoro Onyekachi lol. It doesn’t work like that. Even though Super Eagles won their last two matches. Keep in mind these teams Super Eagles won are very low rated teams — Liberia and Cape Verde. It’s not like Super Eagles beat Belgium, Germany, UK, Brazil, Spain and Argentina. Lol. When we begin to do that. Then we have arrived. Lol
