Venezia set to sign another Nigerian star

The Winged Lions have already secured the services of Tyronne Ebuehi on a loan deal, but they are set to complete the signing of another Nigerian star

Club Brugge forward David Okereke is closing in on a move to Italian Serie A new boys, Venezia. The forward is currently unsettled in Belgium, and a move away from the Jupiler League holders looks to be in the works.

According to Football Italia, as per Sky Sports, Venezia are close to securing the services of the 23-year-old on a one-year loan deal with the option of a permanent extension at the expiration of the loan deal.

After scoring four goals in 25 games for Club Brugge last season, the Spezia Academy product has had a difficult start to life this season as he has started only one of three Jupiler League games this season.

It does seem like Okereke has a lot of admirers in Italy, as Sampdoria were also interested in signing him but have now fallen behind in the race.

The 23-year-old has also been linked with a move to Besiktas, but a deal with Venice seems likely. The Lagos born forward is versatile as he can play in all positions in attack.

Okereke will join fellow Nigerian Tyronne Ebuehi at the Venice-based side if his move goes through.
