There are not many Nigerian internationals in the Danish top-flight, but one of the country’s flying wingers could be on his way this summer
FC Copenhagen are resolved to losing Danish youngster of Sierra Leonean descent Mohamed Daramy but have identified Super Eagles forward Peter Olayinka as the ideal replacement for the 19-year-old right-winger.
The Danish Super Liga giants have nurtured Daramy since he was 16, but they could see him leave this summer, with Club Brugge among the clubs interested in his services.
But Nigeria’s Olayinka is the man the Lions are targeting to fill in the hole that is expected to be left behind with the departure of Daramy, according to Danish Football.
Still only 25, Olayinka is already a veteran of Czech football, where he has helped Slavia Prague lift three league titles and two FA Cups since his arrival in 2018.
Despite being predominantly deployed as a winger, Olayinka has managed 22 goals and 15 assists in 110 games for the reigning Czech champions – the most he has registered for any of the five clubs he has played for in Europe.
Injury has limited the former Zulte Waregem ace to just 27 minutes of league football this season. Still, his previous exploits have convinced FC Copenhagen to prepare an offer for the forward rated at €7 million (N3.5 billion) by transfermarkt.
